Neil Burnell is a multi-award winning photographer from the South-West of England best known for his otherworldly woodland images of Dartmoor's Wistman's Wood. Neil's work provides a timely reminder that we are still blessed with pockets of unique wilderness across the UK and that it must be protected if it is to remain that way.
Neil has recently released his latest book 'Mystical', which he describes as 'a photographic and spiritual journey through the eerie and timeless woods that nestle in the granite arms of Dartmoor National Park.'
A NEW WORLD - SPECTRO (Spectrography). A study of Full-Spectrum light. A New World is part of the ongoing series "Spectro", a collection of Infrared images turning our environment into a beautifully surreal world! This particular image was photographed using a Full-Spectrum converted camera and an Aerochrome filter, this turns the foliage orange or red. WHAT IS FULL SPECTRUM Full-Spectrum light covers the electromagnetic spectrum from infrared to near-ultraviolet, or all wavelengths that are useful to plant or animal life.
I started the series "A Light in the Dark" two years ago, but unfortunately, it was disrupted by Covid. This ongoing series will explore trees and woodlands lit by either the Moon or artificial light at night.
